What is NCLEX?

The National Council Licensure Examination or NCLEX are tests developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in the United States. Both NCLEX-RN for Registered Nurses and NCLEX-PN for Practical Nurses are test plans used by the state and territorial boards of nursing to determine whether or not a candidate is prepared for entry level nursing practice. Though both may cover a lot of overlapping materials, since it was developed by a single organization, the scoring and number of questions, however, vary between the exams.

The NCLEX tests are created to be one of the final hurdles in your nursing career hence, what is tested is your ability to make decisions in various patient care scenarios under critical conditions. Therefore it is a must that you completely understand the principle of nursing and be able to apply this to different elements of patient safety management.
